POIs are specific locations marked by the user. Each point is identified by a name, category, position, elevation, description and even can be linked to a file or a web page. The category of POI is represented by an icon that will be displayed on the map at the POI position location.
POI screen
The POI screen allows consulting, editing or creating POIs. The six first fields on the left side regroup the POI name as well as its Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Date and Time of creation. Place the cursor inside any of these textual fields, and enter a new data through the virtual keyboard to modify the characteristic of this point. For easy creation, the name of a new POI is initializing by default to the “POI” string, geographic data, such as Latitude, Longitude, and Altitude to the value of the map's center point and Date and time to the date of creation. Left to the POI name, you find the POI category. The category is represented by an icon. You can associate any category to a point by selecting an existing category in the dropdown list available next to the Category name. The default category is named “Default” and is associated to a pin icon.
You can create new categories by selecting the “new type” item in the category dropdown list. Right to the POI name, you also find the Tracks Point check box. Because POIs can be divided into 2 types: general locations useful at anytime on any maps and local locations specific to a single track. By checking this box, you can define if the POI is a local POI only belonging to the current track. In this last case, this POI will appear only when the track is visualized, and will be store in the track file. On the right hand side of the screen, the POI comments text box allows textual comments to be input. Place the cursor inside this text box, and enter through the virtual keyboard the description or comments you wish to add to this POI. On the bottom half of the screen, the link field allows associating any external information to this POI. This reference can linked to an internal xml file store on the PDA device or on the Web. Select the cross icon to define a new link and the referred information will be uploaded from disk space or through internet. Click on the minus icon to remove this link from the POI details information. The raw button at the end of this screen allows saving the modification and exiting the screen POI, deleting the POI, or centering this POI on the map.
Creating a new POI
The POI screen is displayed and you enter information about this point such as its name, description, icon, position and elevation.
