Thanks
to Donald McLennan for this section
AAA Map'n'Go 4.0 combines Delorme's extraordinary map detail with AAA's
extensive travel database. High-quality maps, travel information and easy-to-use
tools help you plan your trips down to the last detail.
We have found that the quality of the maps is very compatible with GPS
Pilot software. The following discussion provides the AAA Man'n'Go
4.0 settings and a step-by-step process for extracting the maps from AAA
Map'n'Go and loading into GPS Pilot Cartographer.
When loading maps into GPS Pilot software, the default format for longitude
and latitude is degrees and decimal minutes and seconds. AAA Map'n'
Go 4.0 supports various longitude and latitude formats. The setting is
maintained in the Map'n'Go ini file, under the ‘[main]'
section as follows:
[main]
latlon=N11.1111

From the AAA Map'n'Go 4.0 menu, you have several options
to display items on the map. Select/deselect the various options for display.
We've found the following to provide usable images on the Pilot:

Set the Map Features to display the Roads, Place names, and Other items.
We've found that Roads and Place names display well on PDA.
When displaying the map, the object is to display the desired level of
map detail. We've found that the Zoom level magnification of 14
provides a good working map, with streets, street names, highways, etc.
Lower level of magnification provides a good overview map, but does not
provide the street level detail. Higher level of magnification provides
too much information and doesn't cover the area.
Position the map. It is now necessary to identify the upper left and
lower right longitude and latitude coordinates. To do so, move the cursor
to the upper right corner of the map display. The longitude/latitude may
be displayed in the lower left corner of the map. If not, simply right
mouse click. Either save these coordinates into a text file map_name.txt,
saved in the same directory as the map_name.bmp,
or record these figures for entry into the Cartographer.
Save the image to a Windows bit map (*.bmp) by copying
map to the clipboard. This action is found under the Edit, Copy
Map to clipboard menu.
